He has built a holistic, wide-ranging philosophy for teaching maths which has led to outstanding value-added measures in his school. He also works as a consultant for his local authority, supporting schools to implement a ‘mastery’ mathematics curriculum.
Gareth has led a range of CPD events locally and nationally, including sessions at Headteachers’ and subject leaders’ conferences, receiving consistently excellent feedback from his training. He has delivered lectures and led workshops for students at Liverpool Hope University, and he has won a national science teaching award – the Primary Science Teaching Trust Keith Bishop Award 2011.He is the author of pioneering maths resources The Maths Apprenticeship, First Class Maths and the iPad app Logic Squares. Gareth’s training is grounded in pedagogical research and is highly practical, helping teachers to develop a mastery curriculum and allowing children enjoy rich, engaging mathematical experiences.
