This course will provide a coherent whole-school approach for developing a mastery maths curriculum, where key areas of learning are explored in depth. Using research from different fields, strategies for helping children to develop a deep, conceptual understanding of mathematics are explored. There will be a focus on the use of visual models and images to promote understanding, questions and activities that promote reasoning and problem-solving and the active use of assessment to improve learning outcomes.
