• Language development games to meet the vocabulary demands of effective story writing.
• ‘Boxing Clever’ – Alan’s unique story making game. A breakdown of how to make ‘Boxing Clever’ using A.I. image generators. Practical strategies for transitioning from story telling to story writing.
• Spelling development approaches which can be applied in the context of a range of narrative genres. Alan explores (free!) I.T.-based resources and supportive display ideas.
• Punctuation as part of meaning making – a whole school, consistent-language strategy.
• Openings and endings – how to effectively start and end a story. Explicit, engaging, practical teaching ideas unpicked.
• Grammar and story writing – Alan considers how to contextualise sentence types.
• Characterisation – a wealth of engaging ideas including strategies for ‘stretching’ able writers.
